The Real Rodizios

4 October 2013

One of the best things about living in Portugal is that you always know you will eat well. We have fish and vegetables for nearly every meal with desert being fresh fruit. It does not get any healthier than that. I love being able to try all kinds of new foods, especially seafood. Octopus, squid, cuttlefish, swordfish, sea snail, sardines, oysters, salmon, shrimp, etc…you name it, and I have probably had it. Earlier this week, Diana made what looked like a very gourmet Portuguese style macaroni and cheese. Just today I found out that it wasn’t pasta with cheese sauce, it was squid cut into circular rings with cheese sauce. I never knew. I thought I was eating pasta, and now I love squid.

Tucanos is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world, and that is how I eat here in Portugal EVERY DAY of my life. Today the Maroco family showed Tucanos and Rodizios what is up with a real Portuguese churrasco-the grill even being placed in the middle of the table so that everyone could cook their own meat to their liking. Different meats, vegetables, and fruits lined every inch of the table-yuuuummmm, the taste still lingers on my tongue…
