We’re coming home and I just can’t believe how quickly the time flew by. Just yesterday it felt like Andrew and I were hiking Kilimanjaro, playing with chimpanzees, and living in Malawi, but in just one more day we will be in the United States with our friends and family.
I have loved every moment here in Africa, but I am ready to come home. When you travel life is always exhilarating and exciting, but sometimes you just long for the peace and quiet of home. What I have discovered is that traveling actually makes me cherish home more and helps me remember the small things that I love.
I miss my soft bed, pink snuggie, frozen blueberries, and almond milk. I miss steaming baths, late night Tedex talks, my popcorn popper, and my silk button down shirts. I miss early morning runs, Bath & Body Works lotion, my lonely planet library, and crunchy apples for breakfast.
But more than any of the things I listed above, I miss my family, my home, and the people who have shaped me into the person I am today. I look forward to stepping off the United Boeing jet in a little under 48 hours and return to the land and people I love.
…as well as get a haircut and pedicure ASAP 😉
