06 May 2016 LARGEST FLOATING MARKET IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

What a treat, today we visited Damneonsaduak – the largest floating market in Southeast Asia.  We started out early in our vans and headed off to the pier to catch our speedboats to cruise through the floating markets.

We saw boats everywhere, selling anything and everything you could possibly imagine.  From souvenirs, to coconut ice cream, to fresh fruits and vegetables – you could get it all.  We spent about an hour riding around in the boats before returning to the pier to bus to the outskirts of the market where we could walk around.  We saw exciting things – like lemurs and snakes, and yes we even got a chance to hold them!

Despite being a hot day, we enjoyed ourselves and we even had time to stop at Wat Pho – one of the famous temples in Bangkok.  The 344 stairs took us up to the top of the temple, which had a beautiful view of Bangkok.  We returned to our hotel in the later afternoon, exhausted after such a full day.  Chef Todd may have even treated us to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in the evening – the students were all missing their American Burgers.
