Luang Prabang Laos Elephants, Temples, and Waterfalls

9-10 October 2017

The weather is warm and beautiful, we love it!  Luang Prabang is a beautiful city, and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains and landscapes I have ever seen in Southeast Asia.  I am so excited to spend the next couple of days here!

Do you know what a Mahout is?

A Mahout is the name for a local elephant trainer in Laos. Today we had the opportunity to meet with the local Mahouts, learn how they talk to their elephants, and got to even ride bareback in the river! Then we got to bathe them, which was so much fun! The local Mahouts strive to take care of the elephants who have fallen victim to local landmines or other manmade dangers from past wars in the country.  We also enjoyed some natural waterfalls along the way!
